We can create better experiences for our users by leveraging the technology, constraints and features available to us in some more capable browsers, while continuing to provide a base-leve experience to those using more lack-luster technology.
One of the technologies that we could benefit by using is CSS3. Supported extensively in 4 of the 5 major browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera), as well as mobile devices (Android and iPhone devices), CSS3 can help us enhance the user experiences of many of our users without effecting those still using Internet Explorer (although one would argue that they should be punished).
In order to convince some people we need to talk about CSS3 not as a liability (“Doesn’t work in all browsers”) and instead starting speaking about it as a feature benefit. Here are four ways to sell CSS3 to clients, stakeholders or colleagues who you need to get buy-in from.

In this second installment of my posts on redesigning www.OrigenCreatives.com, I want to take a bit and talk about the design process. This site has been a pet project for nearly a year now, and I’ve gone through three major designs before finally choosing the one you’re enjoying right now. Things that influenced the process were user interaction, typography, grid, whitespace and color. In this post I’ll show you some of the other designs I considered and explain some of my design decisions on this site.

With the launch of my new site redesign, I thought it might be interesting to blog about the process of creating the new site. This has been a side project for nearly a year now, and I finally set a deadline for myself and got it up. As any web designer or design firm knows, designing a site for yourself is always harder than doing it for a client.
This first installment will cover content strategy. Future posts will cover design, front-end development and ExpressionEngine 2.0 integration.
